Introduction
Talk With Me Ltd. is run by Alyssa DaParma. Alyssa is a Speech and Language Therapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and a member of the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP).
Talk With Me Ltd. deliver therapy, assessment and training in a range of settings; Supersonic House, homes and educational settings. It has an active website www.talkwithme.uk. Talk With Me Ltd. aims to provide privacy and protection of personal information.
Our Responsibilities
We are committed to maintaining the security and confidentiality of your child’s personal information. We are constantly working to ensure we are following current data protection regulation. We will not release your personal details to any third party without first seeking your consent, unless this is required by law.
Lawful Processing of Personal Information
Our lawful basis for processing and storing personal information is one of ‘legitimate interest’ under section 6 of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). We require personal information in order to deliver an effective service. We have a legitimate lawful interest to process and store data.
Data relating to an individual’s health falls under section 9 of the GDPR. The documentation states that professionals are ‘legally bound to professional secrecy’ may have a lawful basis for processing this data. Speech and Language Therapists are legally bound to keep client information confidential. Talk With Me Ltd follows these guidelines.
Speech and Language Therapists cannot practise without being registered to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The HCPC sets clear standards in regards to how Speech and Language Therapists should work. Standard 2 specifies we must “share relevant information, where appropriate, with colleagues involved in the care, treatment or other services provided to a service user.” Standard 10 specifies “You must keep full, clear, and accurate records for everyone you care for, treat, or provide other services to. You must complete all records promptly and as soon as possible after providing care, treatment or other services. You must keep records secure by protecting them from loss, damage or inappropriate access.” Talk With Me Ltd. adheres to these standards.
How we collect personal information
Information about your child may be collected verbally or in written form from parents/legal guardians. Information collected from other professionals would be done so if parental/carers consent has been given. It may be necessary at times to collect additional information.
Personal information via website and/or email
You may use the Talk With Me Ltd. website without providing any personal information. When using the website contact email we require you to provide you name, telephone number and email address so that we are able to respond. You may add comments or queries which might also contain personal information.
How we use Personal Information
Personal information collected by us is stored and used by us for the purpose of delivering your child’s speech and language intervention. We use this information to prepare, plan and provide speech and language therapy services appropriate for your child’s needs.
We may also use personal information in order to liaise with parents/guardians in regards to appointments, progress and general communication. Liaison may occur via telephone, text message, email or post. This may be so that we can share reports, letters or programmes.
Personal details are stored securely and kept confidential by Talk With Me Ltd. They are used for your child’s therapeutic intervention.
Sharing Information
Information is shared with other health professionals when consent is given by parents/guardians. A record of your consent is kept within your child’s record. Unless we are required to do so by law, or for child safeguarding purposes, we will not disclose any personal information collected to any person other than as set out above.
With your consent we may share information such as appointment dates and times and reports via email. Any email containing sensitive personal data will have personal information removed or it may be delivered in encrypted form.
We do not employ agents to process personal data. We do not give or sell client details to any third parties.
How we store personal information
All information about you, your child, and their speech and language therapy is stored securely. Confidential information is stored securely in accordance with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) data protection regulations.
On occasion it may be therapeutically appropriate to film or record input with children/families. This is only done so with consent from parents/carers. If a recording has taken place, this is done so on a secure device which is password protected.
At times filming of input may be used for training. This is only done if consent has been given from parents/carers. Recordings are stored securely on password protected.
Destroying of Records
In accordance with law, all records will be kept securely until your child is 25 years old or if still receiving treatment at the age of 17, until they are 26 years old. After this time all records relating to your child will be destroyed.
Data Protection Regulations 2018
The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) 2018 govern protection, processing and movement of data and the legal rights of individuals to control information about themselves.
GDPR seeks to give people more control over how organisations use their data. It enforces significant penalties for organisations that fail to comply. All speech and language therapists working for Talk With Me Ltd. are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as Data Controllers. Your Rights
GDPR gives parents the following rights: The right to a copy of the information we hold about your child. The right to ask for your child’s record to be amended if you believe that it is wrong.
How to access your child’s records: You can access the information we hold about you or your child by writing to us at the address below. Fees apply for copying records which are set out to Talk With Me Ltd. Terms & Conditions. We will provide access to your child’s records within 30 days of receipt of all necessary information.
